Outlook Express Setup

Section 1: Configuring a new mail account.

If you are configuring a new email account in Outlook Express, please follow these directions. Open Outlook Express.
The quickest way is to click on the 'Outlook Express' icon located on your Desktop.

From the drop-down menu marked 'Tools' select 'Accounts...'

The 'Internet Accounts' section will be opened. To create a new mail account, click on the tab marked 'Mail' then click on the 'Add' button and select 'Mail..."

This action will open the 'Internet Connection Wizard'. Enter your name the way you would like other Internet users to see when you send e-mail messages. Click on 'Next'.

Enter your E-mail address. Your E-Mail address Somebody@somecompany.com Click on 'Next'.

The incoming mail server is a POP3 server. Select 'POP3' from the option list. The name of the 'Incoming and Outgoing' mail servers are: 'mail.somecompany.com'. Enter these in lower case letters, then click 'Next'.

The Log on details are the same as when you dial into Your Connection. Your 'username' and 'password' should be entered in lower-case letters. In the 'POP Account' name field enter your 'username'. In the 'Password' field enter your 'password'. Click 'Next'.

Enter a name that Outlook Express can save your mail account settings under. This name will not be seen by anyone you send e-mail to, so you name this setting anything you choose. Click 'Next'.

Select the medium in which you collect your e-mail. If you are connecting to the Internet using a modem, then select 'Connect using my phone line'. Click 'Next'.

Select from the list your modem connection. If you only have one modem installed, only one will appear in this list and you should already have a Dial-Up Networking connection called 'My Connection' on your system. Click in the radio button next to 'Use an existing dial-up connection' and select the Dial-Up Networking connection 'My Connection'. Click 'Next'.

Your mail account has been successfully configured. Click 'Finish'. Now you can 'Close' it and begin using your E-mail.
